Education in Rwanda
As of December 2015, there were 34 institutions of higher education in Rwanda, 11 public and 23 private. In 2013, the government of Rwanda merged all public universities, leading to one public university, the University of Rwanda, with six colleges.
The University of Rwanda has the following colleges:

Rwanda operates on a 6-3-3-4 school system, that is to say six years for primary school, three years for ordinary level (junior secondary school), three years for advanced level (senior secondary school) and four years for university bachelor’s degree. The official languages of instruction used in the Rwandan education system are Kinyarwanda, which is used in primary school from P1-P3, and English, which is used from P4 through university.

To apply for a student visa to study in Rwanda, you need to follow these steps:
Acceptance Letter: Obtain a letter of acceptance from a recognized educational institution in Rwanda demonstrating that you have been offered a place on a full-time course of study.
Sufficient Funds: You must be able to demonstrate evidence of enough funds to support yourself in the country.
Course Fees: It must be shown that the course fees have been paid in full.
Private Medical Insurance: Arrange private medical insurance and provide documentary evidence of this.
Intention to Return: It must be your demonstrable intention to return to your own country at the end of your period of study.
Apply for Authorization: Apply at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for authorization for your Student Visa.
Apply for Visa: If the Ministry of Foreign Affairs authorizes the visa, you can then apply at one of the Embassies or Consulates of Rwanda near you.When applying for the visa, you will need to submit the following documents:
Proof of authorization from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (e.g., Visa Authorization Number)
Your Birth Certificate
Your high school diploma or other previous academic qualifications
A medical report issued by a certified medical practitioner which states you are not infected with any contagious diseases. The report must have been issued within the last three months.
Police clearance, issued within the last six months
If you are under the age of : Authorization to travel from your parent(s) or legal guardian(s).
Please note that the processing time for the application can take from one to seven days, although it may take longer depending on the specific Embassy/Consulate. After your application has been processed, you can pick up your visa during the pick-up hour.
